Drive Icon Question Mark. The hard drive itself seems to be running as I can feel movement inside and the light is on and not blinking. I found a blank gif file from online to replace the image with which actually made the blue question mark go away yet theres an empty box there instead.
But after installing a new OS reseating the hard drive cable trying a different hard drive and then replacing the hard drive cable the computer still only boot to the question mark folder. So if I put the mouse there it shows the tooltip for the help and I can still press the button.
I am a little paranoid because I have no idea what this blue question mark on the external hard drive icon means. I have Windows 10 and have done as you said. This was what I think caused the blue question mark by the shortcut. This hard drive is not even a year old.
